Importer of record pricing: two fees, everything else at cost
We charge for the risk we take on and the diligence we do. Nothing else.
Two fees. Everything else at cost.
The risk fee is a percentage of the declaration value, falling as the value rises. It prices what we take on by becoming your importer: we file in our own name and stand jointly and severally liable for the declaration, alongside you. When customs has questions, they come to us first. It is a price for that position, not insurance: duty and VAT, whenever assessed, are taxes and sit outside it. The compliance fee is a fixed amount per product, and it is the same for every client. No tiers, no negotiation. It pays for the due diligence before we import: classification, valuation, origin. Customs declarations, and any additional filings or applications your flow needs, pass through at cost. If it is not risk and not diligence, we do not mark it up.
Diligence is paid once, not per shipment. When the same products return, the compliance fee does not: the work already exists. Steady flows end up paying for risk, and little else.
Not included
Customs duty and import VAT are taxes, settled with the authorities at entry or in any later reassessment, and the import VAT is usually recoverable. Freight stays with your forwarder.
